re: Some cool changes for Locks in 3.1

Chaoswarp

not all of these have been implemented on the ptr as of today i think we can almost consider this a...a buff woot! although once again there will be a bit of relearning  ill just go ahead and put in the big ones

Drain Soul: Each time Drain Soul deals damage to a target which can grant experience, it now has a chance to generate a Soul Shard roflrun roflrun victory victory roflrun

short lived victory since

Soul Shard: This item now has a maximum count of 32 in inventory Sad

Suppression: Now increases spell hit for all of your spells.(much easier to cap now actually possible to do in 10 man gear. plus gems)

Master Conjuror: Increased from 15/30% up to 150/300%. ( yes thats right demo locks may now do the happy woot dance)

Molten Core: This talent has been moved to Demonology.

Cataclysm: Now reduces the mana cost of Destruction spells by 4/7/10%. No longer increases the chance to hit.( we must now use suppression

And many many more if anything changes ill be sure to edit this post but until then rejoice at the buffs and badness of the lock

You see this as an easy way to fill up on shards before a raid, right? Well they want us to be using shards to do our job. Or best nukes both require shards as well as our OH $#!% button (soulfire, soulshatter and shadowburn). These are all spells I would like to use on regular basis, but don't want to carry a bajillion crystals around. So they make it so we can get shards at the drop of a hat, AND they also put in a limit to the amount of shards we can now carry, 32? So sure we can stop doing serious DPS (unless you are deep affliction) and get shards back to fill up a bag we lose of inventory space... Yeah that makes sense. As is I just keep enough for health and rez stones plus a few for soulshatter.

What else, Oh yeah! The hit talent is now only in Affliction, at least it is on the first tier, but that just means there are going to be more pvp talent points waste holes in destro. Molten core moved to Demon??? Ummmm what are the chances a demon lock is going to be switching his nukes in and out (shadow for fire) mid fight? Or go far enough into destro to pump up fire over Imm SB?

It looks like the changes to warlock so far are only 1/2 way there, you didn't expect them to actually spend time on us right? Even the shard thing GC says is just a bandaid until they get around to getting us right. Like the bread and butter of BC raiding for locks, pet saccing, is GONE? Sure they buried it to make it useless, but now it is completely off the table after being are world rocking talent... WTH??!?!

the hit talent in affliction does work for all spell schools now making it so that soulshatter wont be a game of russian roullete and for the most part unless a demo lock goes past felguard they can likely get some good use out of mc by putting points into destro for ruin and devestation but like i said the changes are only for the current buggy useless cant do anything resembling cool version of the ptr...meanwhile we might as well start farming up our 1000 gold for ds training....

in an unrelated note does anyone realize aff locks get the fewest nerfs and get the occasional buff thrown to them tons more often than everyone else

Well by putting the Siphon Life into corruption as opposed to another spell doing damage they are now more dependent on standing and nuking then before, no more maintaining 80% of your damage while in constant motion. So an Aff lock will need to put some points into destro to get their DPS up again and might not have as many points available to go into demon to pump shields and pets.
